I ruptured a disk in my back a year ago, so when I was given the opportunity to review the Total Pillow I jumped at the chance. While I am mostly back to normal, I still do have a bit of pain when I sit for long periods of time. So I was really excited about giving the versatile Total Pillow a try to see if it helped my back at all.
Before I get to my experience with the Total Pillow, here is what the company has to say about their product:
Most people spend approximately one-third of their lives asleep on their pillow, however the new Total Pillow has uses for the two-thirds of time spent awake.
There are pillows for all types of issues but no one pillow that bridges all conditions, until now. The Total Pillow™ is for use overnight, on the couch, sitting at your desk, driving, while on a plane or train, in college dorms, or just while watching television. This donut-shaped pillow transforms in just seconds to more than five supportive shapes for customized relief. The patent pending locking technology enables the Total Pillow to support the neck, lower back, ankles and knees.
"Consumers own many different pillows for different applications, identifying the need for a multipurpose pillow solution." said Steve Heroux, CEO of Hampton Direct. "The Total Pillow transforms into five different shapes to answer a wide range of conditions."
The Total Pillow's ergonomic design allows your body to be cradled in support whether you're a side sleeper and like support between your knees and/or ankles or are a frequent traveler. It's also great for the businessperson, who needs lumbar support for the long periods of time spent seated.
My experience with the Total Pillow:
I love that the Total Pillow can be used in so many ways. It twists and turns to give you support where you need it.
The first way I tried it was folded over the back of my chair. Although my back injury is lower than where the Total Pillow supports, it felt nice to sit there and have my back supported. My favorite way to use the Total Pillow is to twist it and use it for lumbar support. After a long day of sitting at the computer, this really helped my back a lot.
I also tried it as a seat cushion. I will definitely be taking the Total Pillow along when we go to all the band competitions this fall. Bleacher seats are not good for anyone's back, but they are worse if you have a back injury. The Total Pillow can also be used as a neck support for long car or plane rides.
My kids found the Total Pillow useful when laying on the floor watching tv. My youngest daughter just folded it in half and used it to prop herself up.
My only complaint with the Total Pillow is that it is not machine-washable. If my kids start using it regularly, I can guarantee it is going to need to be washed!
All in all I was pleased with the Total Pillow. It is relatively small and would be easy to grab for long car trips. It stays how you shape it and is easy to manipulate. I appreciate that it seems to be well constructed and sturdy. I think I am going to be using this one on a daily basis while I am at the computer working on my blog.
The Total Pillow is just $19.99 and can be ordered online at www.buytotalpillow.com.
